ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
This workshop is for yoga teachers and enthusiastic students of all levels.

Yoga Spot Fairfield,
Melbourne.

Sat October 24th 2026
12.30pm - 4pm.
$60 investment.

Yoga was never intended to be simply a collection of physical postures. It is a multifaceted system, where asana, pranayama, meditation and philosophy work together to support practice, transformation and a deeper relationship with ourselves and the world.

In this four-hour workshop, we’ll explore these practices as an integrated whole - asana preparing and steadying the body, pranayama refining the nervous system and mind, and meditation turning our attention towards self-inquiry. As a backbone to everything we cover, we’ll explore the depths of philosophical and Vedic context that gives these techniques their purpose.

Expect in-depth discussion on the philosophy of yoga complimented by movement, meditation and breathing practices. A holistic approach which will surely transform and consolidate your understanding of why and how we practice.

At the heart of this workshop is becoming clear on our intentions. What are we actually cultivating through practice? How do we reconcile yoga’s intentions with our own? And how can we develop a practice that is authentic and meaningful rather than simply technically correct?

Come and bring the different parts of yoga together to make sense of the whole.

How are you practising - and why?

Technique matters, but so do attitude, attention, intention and understanding.

MEET NICKY

Making Sense of It All is a natural expression of one of Nicky Grimsdale’s greatest strengths as a teacher: his ability to take complex, abstract or fragmented ideas and make them clear, coherent and genuinely relevant.

With more than 22 years of passionate study and practice across yoga, Advaita Vedanta, Tantra, Buddhism and other contemplative traditions, Nicky brings a depth of experiential knowledge to his teaching. Having led 24 yoga teacher trainings, countless workshops, over 10,000 hours of teaching experience and worked extensively with both teachers and students from a wide range of backgrounds and levels of experience, he has developed a particularly intuitive way of responding to the person in front of him.

Nicky’s teaching is about connecting the dots. He provides the context, meaning and definitions that can sometimes be missing when we encounter yoga as a collection of separate teachings and practices. Rather than presenting philosophy as abstract ideas to be understood intellectually, he shows how the different pieces relate, support and illuminate one another - and how yoga’s practical technologies can help us actually experience what the philosophy is pointing towards.

His approach is direct, clear and highly personalised. He listens closely, responds to what is actually being asked, and draws on years of teaching and personal practice to get to the heart of a matter without losing the nuance and detail that make it meaningful.

This is where Nicky’s particular talent lies: making the profound relatable without making it simplistic.

You can expect to be challenged, engaged and encouraged to look more deeply, while always having a clear framework through which to understand what you are learning. The aim is not simply to leave with more information, but with a sense of confidence and lucidity - seeing yoga as a coherent system in which its philosophy, practices and purpose make sense together.

For Nicky, teaching is ultimately about helping each student find their own point of connection with the material. The teachings may be ancient, but how they land in each person is unique. His role is to help bridge that gap.
